La Crescenta man tied up by gunmen while sleeping, home is ransacked

A La Crescenta man awoke Wednesday night to discover two thieves tying him up inside his home during a robbery, sheriff’s officials said.

The man was awaken about 10:30 p.m. by two men who took turns holding him at gunpoint as they ransacked his home of cash, jewelry and electronics, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The men fled the house in the 2900 block of Los Olivos Lane, leaving the homeowner tied up and unable to call police. The man was able to make it to a home of a neighbor who, believing the man was a trespasser, called police, sheriff’s officials said.

The homeowner was uninjured in the robbery.

Authorities described the robbers as possibly being in their 20s.
