Three people were hurt -- including a man who lost a leg -- during the demolition of a power plant in Bakersfield on Saturday morning.

The victims were watching the demolition of the PG&E power facility -- in which explosive charges were used to bring the structure down -- at a Lowe’s parking lot when they were hit by shrapnel, according to the Bakersfield Californian.

ABC23 broadcast video of the structure’s collapse. The station quoted a Kern County sheriff’s official as saying a 44-year-old man “suffered a complete amputation on one leg and a possible amputation to his other leg.”
