Boy, 14, allegedly brings loaded gun to San Diego-area high school

Boy, 14, brings loaded gun to Chula Vista school in backpack, police say

A 14-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of bringing a loaded gun to school in Chula Vista.

The ninth-grader at Hilltop High School was carrying the .44-caliber gun in his backpack and had told other students he “potentially” could use it, Chula Vista police said.

The gun was apparently brought from home and may belong to his father, police said.

Other students had reported the boy’s alleged comments, which alerted police.

The arrest was made without incident, officials reported.
