Teen tries to scare ex, her new boyfriend, accidentally shoots himself

A Fresno teen accidentally shot himself Sunday as he tried to intimidate his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend, police said.

The teen fired half a dozen rounds into the air in front of a home at about 1:30 a.m. before the gun jammed, according to Fresno police.

He tried to clear the gun, and that’s when he shot himself in the leg.

Police said the teen boy’s ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend were inside the home at Woodrow and Woodward avenues in Fresno.

After spotting her car parked outside the home, he began shooting into the air to scare her, police said.

The teen, whose name was not released, was arrested on suspicion of endangering the public. He was treated for his injury at an area hospital.
