National Weather Service

Temperatures in parts of the Los Angeles area are expected to be nearly 20 degrees above normal on Sunday and likely to reach the low 90s in some places, according to forecasters.

"Drink plenty of fluids and know not to overdo it," said Bill Forwood, a National Weather Service meteorologist.

Throughout the weekend, temperatures in coastal areas are expected to remain in the low to mid-70s, according to the weather service. Temperatures in inland areas, however, are expected to be in the 80s.

On Sunday, temperatures could reach the low 90s in the valleys, according to the weather service.

A cooling trend is expected throughout the region early next week.
