Reader Photo: A stroll beneath the stars

Alex Rubalcaba captured this photo while on a “mini vacation” in Death Valley.

“We should all try to escape from our routines,” he said. “California is beautiful and there are so many variables in the landscape.”

For this photo, Rubalcaba took advantage of the lack of light pollution in the area, something we rarely see in Los Angeles. He used a 1200 lumens flash light and his Canon 7D to compose the image.
