A ring of sparks in the night

Every month, a group known as Conquer L.A. tours Los Angeles with local photographers.

Jason Armijo, who participated in August’s meeting, shot this image near Fourth and Flower streets in downtown L.A. while experimenting with long exposures using steel wool.

“I took the photograph because of the alignment. [The] U.S. Bank Tower being dead center,” he said. “It looks iconic between the surrounding buildings.”

Armijo used his Canon EOS Rebel SL1.
