Connecticut governor may order ban on gun sales to those on ‘no-fly’ list

Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is proposing to use an executive order that would ban the sale of guns to individuals on federal no-fly watch lists.

Malloy said Thursday that his policy would further limit the purchase of ammunition or guns already outlawed in the state. He said Connecticut was working to get access to federal lists.

He said banning gun sales to those who are not allowed to fly is “basic common sense.” Malloy said those who are barred from gun sales may appeal.

Gun rights advocates oppose the no-fly list proposal because they say it violates the rights of people who have not been convicted of a crime.

Malloy said he was responding to the fatal terrorist attacks in Paris and San Bernardino. He criticized the Republican-led Congress for failing to act.
