Police say a man was arrested after taking hostages at a credit union near the University of Alabama, and all the hostages are reported unharmed.

Tuscaloosa police spokeswoman Lt. Teena Richardson said the incident Tuesday morning ended peacefully, adding, “The hostages are fine.” She said there were about eight hostages with the gunman.

Richardson said it wasn’t clear what sparked the incident at an Alabama Credit Union branch across the street from the UA law school.
