The man at the center of Bell’s pay scandal has put his upscale Huntington Beach home on the market.

Former City Administrator Robert Rizzo is asking $979,000 for the four-bedroom, 31/2-bath house. The two-story, 3,250-square-foot house in the 1900 block of Lake Street is near City Hall, in one of Huntington Beach’s most affluent residential areas. Houses there range from the mid-$700,000s to the mid-$2 millions, said Rizzo’s selling agent, Bill Cuppy of Pier Realty.

Cuppy was also Rizzo’s agent when he bought the house in 2007. He paid $1.13 million, according to public records.

The home was remodeled with top-of-the-line amenities, including custom glass, crown moldings and travertine flooring, Cuppy said. The kitchen and bathrooms were remodeled.

Most of the furniture was moved out Friday. Cuppy said he doesn’t know where Rizzo plans to move. The embattled former city official is facing trial on public corruption charges.

Cuppy said he has received many calls from potential buyers.

“I would hope there wouldn’t be any stigma associated with the house,” he said. “The house is a great house. We’re not selling Bob. We’re selling the house.”
