Man shot dead in dispute over debt
Authorities say the owner of a roofing company was shot to death in his home Friday by an employee in a dispute over a debt.
A suspect, John Vigil, 39, was arrested at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says Vigil went to the home of his boss, 49-year-old William Barnes, late Friday to confront him over money.
The men allegedly began to struggle, and at some point a shotgun was produced and fired at least twice. Barnes was shot in the torso and died in front of his wife and children.
Vigil’s young son was grazed in the shooting and was listed in stable condition at a local hospital.
Investigators are trying to determine who owned the shotgun.
