Missing hiker is found safe in Yosemite
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK -- Rescue crews scouring the park for a missing Corcoran, Calif., city official found him dehydrated but uninjured Monday morning, authorities said.
Ronald Hoggard, 58, Corcoran’s city manager and an avid photographer, had last been heard from Friday afternoon when he called his wife from his car. He was reported missing Saturday afternoon.
Hoggard’s truck was found inside the park near Glacier Point Road. Hoggard, who was not an experienced hiker but in good health, was found in the Taft Point area, near Glacier Point.
This was Yosemite’s second large-scale search this year.
Ottorina Bonaventura, 80, went missing July 30 during a day hike in the high alpine region surrounding Vogelsang High Sierra Camp.
She had hiking experience, but also had a history of memory loss. Bonaventura was found dead in a remote area southwest of Tuolumne Meadows about two weeks later.
