An 18-year-old man was arrested early Sunday in Boyle Heights on suspicion of running down six people with his car, authorities said.

No one was killed, but at least three people were hospitalized with serious injuries, said Los Angeles Police Officer Mike Lopez.

He said the suspect, Kirk Whitney, went to a party in the 300 block of North Fickett Street seeking his girlfriend about 12:35 a.m. Whitney, who was not invited to the party, brandished a knife when he was asked to leave, police said.

A fight reportedly ensued, and the badly beaten Whitney got into his car and ran down people in the alley behind the party, Lopez said.

Officers arrested Whitney about two hours later in Monterey Park. He was charged Sunday with several counts of attempted murder and was being held on $500,000 bail.
