From Times Staff and Wire Reports

O.J. Simpson’s older brother was the driver of an airport shuttle bus that crashed last week, killing a passenger from Arizona, authorities said.

Melvin Leon Simpson, 58, of San Mateo may have fallen asleep at the wheel Friday before the SFO Airporter bus struck a guard rail on Interstate 280 and veered into a concrete support column, the California Highway Patrol said.

Simpson was near the end of his eight-hour shift and was suffering flu-like symptoms when the 21-seat van crashed, killing 57-year-old Lynne de Matties of Phoenix, the CHP said.
