Outbreak of Bedbugs in the Bay Area

Bedbugs have infested mattresses across the Bay Area, in keeping with a national trend that has seen a resurgence of the parasites after 60 years of near-eradication.
A San Jose State University dormitory room underwent extensive fumigation Thursday after a student found insects in his bed last week. The San Francisco Health Department adopted regulations this month that require precise records and procedures for training staff to identify and respond to the bugs.
