3 Children Die of Smoke Inhalation in House Fire
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
A fire ripped through a house Friday night, killing three young children who had sought refuge from smoke under a blanket.
Firefighters found them trapped in a second-floor bedroom, and they were declared dead at a hospital later. The cause of death appeared to be smoke inhalation.
The flames never reached the room where the children were found, authorities said.
The children’s grandmother suffered smoke inhalation in the fire but survived.
