Authorities have arrested and charged a 16-year-old youth in the takeover robbery of an Oakland restaurant.

Alameda County prosecutors say Tanom Dominique was charged Tuesday with five counts each of robbery and false imprisonment for his alleged involvement in the April 16 robbery of Milano, one of eight East Bay restaurants held up over the last month.

The West Oakland teenager was arrested Friday. He is accused of robbing five employees and diners and preventing five other people from leaving the Italian restaurant.

Prosecutors say Dominique is being charged as an adult because of the seriousness of the crime. They say he wasn’t holding a weapon, but he was with others who were armed.
