Suicide Bomber Kills GI, 6 Others
An American soldier, a U.S. civilian contractor and five Iraqis were killed when a suicide bomber blew himself up Tuesday in Baqubah, north of Baghdad, the U.S. military announced.
Nine U.S. soldiers, a second American contractor and 10 Iraqis were wounded in the attack, a military statement said.
Elsewhere in Iraq, a Marine was killed Sunday by a homemade bomb during combat operations near Karmah, 50 miles west of Baghdad, the military announced Tuesday.
None of the casualties was immediately identified.
Since the beginning of the war in March 2003, about 1,870 U.S. service members have died.
