NATION BRIEFING / NEW YORK
Times Wire Reports
A mob captain who helped run the crumbling Gambino crime family when John Gotti was sent to prison has been sentenced to 13 years.
Nicholas Corozzo pleaded guilty last summer to racketeering crimes and two murders in 1996. The 69-year-old was on the run for nearly four months after escaping arrest during a dragnet that swept up 62 reputed mob associates last year.
He surrendered after his case was featured on TV’s “America’s Most Wanted.”
