Hamas calls for attacks on Israel
Hamas militants called for a fresh wave of attacks against Israel after troops killed nine Palestinians in weekend fighting, straining a 5-month-old truce in the Gaza Strip.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ more moderate Fatah faction urged him to consider severing contacts with Israel’s government.
The fighting also included a Palestinian rocket attack on the southern Israeli town of Sderot that damaged a home.
Israeli officials said the deaths, including three on Sunday in the West Bank, occurred during operations aimed at reducing attacks against Israelis.
