Oscar Niemeyer | 1907-2012
Oscar Niemeyer, who loved curves in design and disliked right angles, shared architecture's Pritzker Prize in 1988. He designed the major buildings that form the heart of Brazil's capital, Brasilia.

Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer's signature style features futuristic round and curving designs. His formative experience came in 1934 when he joined a team of Brazilian architects collaborating with Swiss architect Le Corbusier on a new Ministry of Education and Health in Rio de Janeiro.
