Re “Next UC student regent nominated,” June 10

Sadia Saifuddin, likely the next student regent for the University of California system, says she loves Islam because it teaches tolerance and love. Yet that tolerance and love does not extend to Israel.

Through her sponsorship of a resolution in UC Berkeley’s student Senate calling for the UC system to divest from companies that do business with the Israeli military, she has sought to demonize Israel, the only Mideast country that gives equal rights to women and gays.

Shame on Saifuddin and others in this movement.
