A new type of barnstorming

Share

Barack Obama’s campaign has launched a rural outreach program in Ohio, one that depends more on raised barns than raised funds.

The initiative is called Barns for Obama. No, barns don’t vote. But they do offer space for billboards, and many are conveniently located within eyeshot of highways.

The campaign has made over the side of one farmer’s barn with a massive Obama logo and slogan, and it expects to paint more, according to Obama spokesman Tom Reynolds.

The Ohio campaign has a contingent dedicated just to getting out the rural vote, and Reynolds hinted that it would expand its effort in coming days.
