Readers React: No matter the cost, veterans deserve care

To the editor: The “temporary VA fix” must, not could, be permanent as a floor for what we do for our veterans sent to fight ridiculous wars for ridiculous reasons, using ridiculous strategies with ridiculous and tragic results. (“Lawmakers’ costly plan to fix Veterans Affairs is temporary, or not,” Aug. 6)

Yes, our economy and thus our budgets have been ruined by these wars. But our veterans cannot become victims yet again of our hubris.

We will have to sacrifice elsewhere in the budget to take care of the men and women who sacrificed for our politicians.
