Silicon Valley has enough money to help its homeless

To the editor: Reading about homeless people in Silicon Valley being forcibly removed from an encampment was heartbreaking. Yes, health and safety are major concerns, but what will become of these people? ("Silicon Valley homeless no longer welcome in 'the Jungle," Dec. 3)

San Jose and the surrounding communities have a responsibility to provide care and humane conditions for the homeless. Local businesses — including some of the richest in the world — should support that effort. Apple, Google, Facebook and others need to step up and help the communities solve this terrible condition.

This country has the resources, compassion and values to correct this deplorable situation.
