Los Angeles Times Media Group Announces New Vice President of Software Engineering and Architecture

LOS ANGELES, August 7, 2007 – The Los Angeles Times Media Group today announced that Dr. Kamran Izadpanah has been named vice president, software engineering and architecture for latimes.com. In his new position, Izadpanah will be charged with determining the processes, methods, technology and frameworks that will help to restructure the company’s overall interactive business. He will be responsible for all software development and structural design, while building a software engineering team that will enhance the technical aspects of the company’s multimedia products and implement the processes and systems needed to deliver hyper local content for readers, users and advertisers.

Before joining latimes.com, Izadpanah served as the executive director of software development at Edmunds.com. While there, he re-engineered the publishing, search, advertising and data operations systems that fed Edmunds, InsideLine and CarSpace.com. In addition, he initiated the redesign of all the Web sites to improve search engine performance and reorganized the product planning process to improve revenue flow and organizational responsiveness, as well as revamped the company’s advertising engines to provide quasi real-time feedback on ad sales.

Izadpanah earned his doctorate in computer engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, MO, as well as an MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA.
