Mariners 4, Dodgers 1

AT THE PLATE: The Dodgers got only five hits off Seattle’s Felix Hernandez and six relievers, two of which went for extra bases: Yasiel Puig’s leadoff double and an eighth-inning solo home run from minor leaguer Trayvon Robinson. The Dodgers struck out three times and drew four walks.

ON THE MOUND: It was a bullpen day for the Dodgers, who sent seven relievers to the mound, led by Brian Wilson, who pitched a perfect first inning. Left-hander J.P. Howell was roughed up in his inning, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits.

EXTRA BASES: Dee Gordon continues to make strides at second base, turning in two sterling defensive plays. The first took a hit away from Kyle Seager to end the seventh inning and the second kept a ninth-inning single in the infield. Nonroster outfielder Joc Pederson was also impressive in the field, making an outstanding catch after a long run to the warning track in center field.
