Blackhawks’ Quenneville on Bolland: ‘Status quo’

Share

It has been more than two weeks since the Blackhawks’ Dave Bolland suffered a concussion, but there has been little progress in the center’s recovery.

Bolland was injured when he was elbowed in the head by the Lightning’s Pavel Kubina on March 9 in Tampa and has not participated in a game or practice since. Kubina was suspended for three games by the NHL for the illegal head shot.

“There’s nothing new on Bolland -- status quo,” coach Joel Quenneville said after Saturday’s practice. “The uncertainty is the part that leaves you a little bit concerned. (But) things can change quickly.”

Quenneville also gave an update on winger Patrick Sharp, who suffered a left knee injury Sunday night against the Coyotes in Glendale, Ariz.

“Sharp’s progressing probably right on the course we were looking at,” Quenneville said. “We’re still hopeful that he can play before the season is over.”
