Participants in Harris Poll to Be Announced Monday

Share

The names of those chosen to participate in the inaugural Harris Interactive College Football Poll will be revealed Monday, bowl championship series spokesman Bob Burda said Thursday.

The Harris poll replaces the Associated Press poll in the BCS standings formula, which is used to choose college football’s title-game participants.

Associated Press, citing conflict of interest, pulled out of the BCS in December. The Harris poll will have 114 voters and include former coaches, former players, administrators and media members. Harris Interactive, a market research firm, will administer the poll, which will make its debut Sept. 25 and continue weekly through Dec. 4.

Only the final ballots of Harris voters will be made public, although panelists will be free to release their weekly votes if they choose.

The USA Today coaches’ poll announced this year that voters also would reveal their final ballots in 2005.
