Yasiel Puig Slams the Braves

Yasiel Puig is King of Los Angeles once again after a brief one-day hiatus.

With a single swing of the bat, Puig wiped away the 1-for-7 memories from the last game-plus and replaced them with 408 feet of electrifying grand slam.

Puig connected with the bases loaded and one out in the 8th inning, smashing Cory Gearrin’s 81 mph slider 10 rows over the ‘@Dodgers’ banner in the right-field stands.

The bomb gave the Dodgers a 5-0 lead over the Braves and all but sealed their third win in four days.

Heading into the at-bat, Puig was 1-for-3 on the night, most recently grounding out to short. He had struck out three times in his last five at-bats, falling into a mild slump after a historic two-game debut.

Puig started his career 5-for-8 with a record-setting second-game performance, then went hitless in four at-bats last night, failing to hit a ball outside the infield.

Leading off the game Thursday, the popular Cuban knocked a Tim Hudson 0-1 sinker through the left side of the infield. Hudson nearly picked him off moments later before Puig was ultimately doubled-off on an Adrian Gonzalez one-out lineout to Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman.

In the third inning, Hudson froze Puig with an 0-2 cutter -- his third strikeout in four at-bats. In the sixth inning, Puig grounded out to short.

Puig outshone pitcher Zack Greinke, who went seven frames on the mound, allowing no runs on four hits while striking out seven.
