Dodgers beat Seattle, 5-2, in exhibition play

AT THE PLATE: Howie Kendrick had two hits, scored a run and drove in another — the RBI coming on a two-out first-inning double that scored Adrian Gonzalez from first base. Gonzalez scored only once from first on a double during the 2014 regular season. Carl Crawford also had two hits and a run batted in, but Yasiel Puig went 0 for 3 with a strikeout, dropping his spring average to .176.

ON THE MOUND: Clayton Kershaw’s worst outing of the spring would have been pretty good for most pitchers: 3 1/3 innings, four hits, one run. But he struggled with his control, walking three and throwing a wild pitch. “I hit every part of the box today. There wasn’t one spot worse than the other,” said Kershaw, who missed the strike zone with 27 of his 65 pitches. Chin-hui Tsao followed with a 1 2/3 perfect innings. And Sergio Santos continued his push for an opening-day spot in the bullpen with his fourth consecutive scoreless outing.

EXTRA BASES: Darnell Sweeney, who is hitting .385, made three errors at second base after entering the game in the sixth inning. He made two errors on one play in the ninth, allowing the Mariners to score an unearned run. . . . Following this winter’s measles outbreak, the Dodgers had all coaches, staff and players — major and minor leaguers — undergo blood tests to see if they were susceptible to the disease. Those who did not have the antibodies to fight measles were offered a vaccine. . . . The Dodgers reassigned four pitchers to minor league camp this weekend, cutting their spring roster to 56 players, and Manager Don Mattingly said more moves are likely Monday. . . . Dodgers pitchers will begin hitting in games for the first time Friday, when Kershaw is scheduled to make his next start against Oakland.
