KEY MOMENT: The Dodgers led, 1-0, in the fifth inning, but the Rockies had runners on first and third with one out. Colorado pitcher Kyle Kendrick tried to bunt and struck out. Charlie Blackmon struck out too, ending the inning and getting ejected for commenting on the quality of the umpiring. The Rockies did not get another runner into scoring position.

AT THE PLATE: The Dodgers were limited to three hits, all singles. But two came in the fourth inning, when Adrian Gonzalez singled, Justin Turner walked, and Yasmani Grandal singled home Gonzalez with the game’s lone run. Grandal is batting .450 in May and .301 overall; he has driven in 15 runs in 13 games this month.

ON THE MOUND: Mike Bolsinger and three relievers combined on the Dodgers’ fifth shutout, tied for the major league lead. Bolsinger pitched six innings and lowered his earned-run average to 1.04. The Rockies did not get a ball out of the infield against three Dodgers relievers, with Kenley Jansen getting two popups and a strikeout in converting his first save opportunity since Oct. 4.

STAR TURN: San Francisco Giants Manager Bruce Bochy, the manager of the National League All-Star team, selected Mattingly as an NL coach for the July 14 game. “It’s always an honor,” Mattingly said. “Four days off is always really nice, but this is a big part of our game. I don’t think you can pass it up.” Mattingly previously coached in an All-Star game in 2004, as a member of the American League staff, under New York Yankees Manager Joe Torre. As a player, Mattingly was a six-time All-Star.

YOUNG ONES: Rookie center fielder Joc Pederson, who went 0 for 4 on Sunday, is batting .186 in May (11 for 59) after batting .298 in April (17 for 57). … Infielder Corey Seager, the Dodgers’ top prospect, batted .407 (11 for 27) in his last six games at triple-A Oklahoma City, lifting his average there from .189 to .281. Seager batted .375 in 20 games at double-A Tulsa before the Dodgers promoted him. … Right-hander Jose DeLeon is 4-1 with a 1.67 ERA at Class-A Rancho Cucamonga. DeLeon, 22, has eight walks and 58 strikeouts in 37 2/3 innings. DeLeon struck out 131 in 77 innings last season, split between Class-A Great Lakes and short-season Ogden.
