Chris Paul says he got chills when Dodgers’ Matt Kemp hit Game 2 homer

Superstar athletes Chris Paul and Matt Kemp are good friends, and big supporters of one another.

The Clippers point guard said that as soon as he returned from his team’s training camp in Las Vegas on Saturday, his wife picked him up and took him to the Dodgers game so he could cheer for his buddy.

“I’m genuinely a fan,” Paul said.

Paul said he started standing before Kemp went to bat. Kemp went on to hit a go-ahead home run leading off the eighth inning in Game 2 of the NLDS against the Cardinals to help give the Dodgers a 3-2 win.

Paul, who is used to playing on the biggest of stages himself, said that he was very affected by the play.

“I think it meant a lot,” he said. “I actually got chills because that was a big play, and a huge win for the Dodgers.”

The experience, however, wasn’t all positive for Paul.

Whenever Paul’s face is shown on the Jumbotron at Dodgers games, the fans boo him. Paul acknowledged that at first he was a bit confused by the response.

“The first time I was surprised,” Paul said. “Then it might have been you that told me, it’s all the Lakers fans that are at the games.”

Paul added: “That don’t mean I’m going to stop cheering.”
