The Ducks avoided falling into a three-game deficit in their best-of-seven-games series against the Predators, winning 3-0 Tuesday night in Nashville.

Here’s three of the keys to the Ducks’ victory at Bridgestone Arena:

1. Not all about the stars: The Ducks’ depth made a huge difference. Their goals came from Jamie McGinn, Rickard Rakell and Chris Stewart, all depth players. Veteran center Shawn Horcoff, making his series debut, set up the first goal, by McGinn.

2. Switch it up: Ducks Coach Bruce Boudreau left himself open to criticism by switching starting goaltenders for Game 3 and going with Frederik Andersen, but the Dane was a wall. And he bounced back quickly after taking a Shea Weber slap shot on his mask during the second period.

3. Cleaner play: Showing admirable restraint, the Ducks stayed away from the unwinnable arguments with officials and post-whistle scrums that got them into penalty trouble in the first two games. Nashville had five power plays to the Ducks’ two, but the Ducks’ penalty killers did a fine job.
