*--* F Jamal Boykin, Fairfax 6-7 Sr. The Duke-bound Gatorade state player of the year averaged 22.6 points, 11.9 rebounds and 2.2 blocked shots in leading the Lions to the City Section and Southern California Regional Division I finals. A John R. Wooden Award winner, he was also a Parade magazine third-team All-American. G Darren Collison, Etiwanda 6-0 Sr. The UCLA-bound point guard averaged 20.7 points, four assists and 2.1 steals for the Division I-AA champions, earning player-of-the-year honors in the Southern Section’s top division. A Parade magazine fourth-team All-American. G Joe Ford, Campbell Hall 6-4 Sr. The Pacific-bound shooting guard averaged 18.8 points, eight rebounds, 5.3 assists, 2.6 blocks and 2.3 steals for the Division IV state champions, who became the first Southern Section team in 15 years to finish unbeaten (32-0). G Mike Gerrity, Mater Dei 6-1 Sr. Recently committed to Pepperdine after averaging 19.3 points and 5.1 assists for the Division II state finalists. His flashy ball-handling skills and court awareness made him one of the Southland’s most exciting players. G Bryan Harvey, Dominguez 6-5 Sr. The Louisville-bound shooting guard struggled with his outside shot down the stretch but was unquestionably the leader for the Southern California Regional Division II finalists. Earned Division II-AA co-player of the year and John R. Wooden Award honors. C Amir Johnson, Westchester 6-10 Sr. The Times’ player of the year led the Comets to the Division I state title while averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds. A Louisville signee, Johnson was selected state player of the year by Cal-Hi Sports magazine and was a second-team Parade magazine All-American. F James Keefe, Santa Margarita 6-8 Jr. Earned Division III-AA player-of-the-year honors and helped the Eagles to the division title while averaging 17 points and 12.3 rebounds. Keefe, who committed early to UCLA, was also a Parade All-American second-team selection. F Taylor King, Mater Dei 6-7 So. Averaged 24.7 points and 11.2 rebounds, second best among Orange County players, including 27 points and 20 rebounds in a victory over Ontario Colony in the Division II-A championship game. G Collin Robinson, Diamond Bar 6-0 Sr. Among the state’s top scorers, Robinson averaged 25.9 points while shooting 40% from three-point range (103 of 255). His play helped the No. 12-seeded Brahmas advance to the semifinals in Division I-AA. G Michael Roll, Aliso Niguel 6-5 Sr. Averaged nearly 25 points in leading the Wolverines past top-seeded Lake Forest El Toro in the Division I-A title game. Headed to UCLA, Roll scored 34 points in a semifinal victory over second-seeded Lake Elsinore Temescal Canyon. Coach of the Year: Quincy Brewer, Ramona A former Riverside North and Arizona State standout, Brewer took over a team last summer that had won only 14 games in its previous three seasons. He led the Rams to a 21-7 record, the Sunkist League title and the Division III-AA quarterfinals.
