Football: Get ready for more drama in Crespi-Notre Dame series

Share

In recent years, the Crespi-Sherman Oaks Notre Dame football game has had so much drama the coaching participants might have lost hair if they had any.

In 2009, Notre Dame won, 23-21, on a game-winning 51-yard field goal by Eric Solis with one second left.

In 2010, it was the Crespi miracle on the final play (see above) to beat Notre Dame, 34-28.

In 2011, Crespi won, 28-26, with a defensive stop on the final play.

In 2012, Notre Dame won, 40-34, in four overtimes.

Last season, Notre Dame won, 41-27, when Grant Kraemer, the son of assistant coach Jeff Kraemer, had a big game. “That’s the best ever,” Jeff Kraemer said.

Kraemer has been involved in 33 Crespi-Notre Dame games as an assistant coach and four as a player.

“It’s a great high school rivalry,” he said. “It’s what high school sports is about.”

Friday’s game at Notre Dame figures to be another good one. Both teams are 5-1.

People better not leave early, because you never know about the finish.
