* Toronto 6, at Chicago 4: Shaun Marcum (9-6) pitched effectively for 7 1/3 innings and the Blue Jays ended a scoreless tie with six runs in the eighth for their 11th win in 12 games. The White Sox, who have dropped four of five, remained one game ahead of the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central. Jim Thome hit his 538th homer off reliever Scott Downs in the bottom of the eighth as Chicago pulled to within 6-4, but B.J. Ryan hung on for his 29th save in the ninth.
