Clippers like Reggie Evans’ energy

Share

He has played in only two games so far, but Reggie Evans already has had an effect on the Clippers.

They have seen his energy, effort and intensity. They have seen how hard he works on defense and rebounding, two areas in which the Clippers would like to improve.

Evans is averaging 6.5 rebounds a game in 17.5 minutes, and he’s still trying to work himself into basketball shape after missing five games recovering from a sprained right foot.

“Reggie is constant energy,” Clippers Coach Vinny Del Negro said before Wednesday’s game against Miami. “You better find him. He’s going to work on the offensive glass. Defensively, he’s going to cause havoc. He’s still trying to get into game shape, but he gives us a totally different look and a totally different energy, which I like.”

Evans is not known for his offense, but he will crash the boards and give the Clippers extra possessions.

“He’s just got to get more comfortable with the schemes and what we’re trying to do out there offensively and defensively. But you know what he’s going to bring. He’s going to bring great energy, great hustle, great effort and then you can work from there.”

Williams has sore foot

Mo Williams injured his right foot during the Portland game Tuesday night but said he was going to play against the Heat.

Williams said the side of his foot is sore after he turned his ankle against the Trail Blazers. Williams could be seen taking his shoe off on the side of the court, but he continued to play.

“It’s still painful,” Williams said. “It’s still a little sore. But I’m playing through it, though.”
