Dodgers to play Rangers in two spring games in San Antonio

Know that spring training schedule the Dodgers released way back on Tuesday?

Time for an update.

Turns out the Dodgers will use their travel bags after all, although this time it won’t be for an international trip: The team announced Wednesday they’ll play a pair of spring training games against the Rangers in San Antonio on March 20-21.

It will mark something of a return to San Antonio for the Dodgers: The riverwalk city was home to their double-A team for 23 years (1977-2000).

This time, however, they’re set to go indoors, playing the games at the Alamodome, the facility near downtown that was once home to the NBA’s Spurs (shades of the Astrodome).

The March 20 (Friday) game is scheduled to be played at 5 p.m. The March 21 game has an 11 a.m. scheduled start. The games mark the third series for San Antonio’s Big League Weekend, the second hosting major-league exhibition games.

The Dodgers also have games scheduled in Arizona that weekend, so it’s uncertain how many regulars will go to Texas.
