N.Y. Mets 10, at Cincinnati 8: David Wright’s two-run homer in the ninth inning rallied the Mets to their 10th consecutive victory, lifting them into a first-place tie with the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League East. On the one-month anniversary of manager Willie Randolph’s firing, the Mets blew three leads before scoring four runs in the ninth off Reds closer Francisco Cordero. They were 6 1/2 games out of first place when Randolph was fired.

at St. Louis 4, San Diego 3: Troy Glaus hit two home runs and Rick Ankiel and Joe Mather had one each off Jake Peavy. It was only the second time in his seven-year career that Peavy had given up four homers in a game.

at Colorado 5, Pittsburgh 3: Chris Iannetta homered and drove in three runs and Ubaldo Jimenez pitched seven strong innings for the Rockies.

Detroit 6, at Baltimore 5: Gary Sheffield and Brandon Inge hit two-run homers, and Marcus Thames had a solo shot for the Tigers (48-47), who have won 24 of their last 35 games.
