PHOENIX -- Brandon Webb pitched eight shutout innings to become the National League’s first 20-game winner, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Cincinnati Reds, 3-2, on Friday night to end a six-game losing streak.

Webb (20-7) outpitched Aaron Harang (4-16) to earn his first victory since Aug. 21, giving the slumping Diamondbacks a sorely needed lift.

Arizona remained 3 1/2 games behind the National League West-leading Dodgers, who won at Colorado.

Webb, who gave up five hits and struck out two, became Arizona’s first 20-game winner since 2002, when Randy Johnson won 24 games and Curt Schilling won 23.

Chad Qualls got the last out for his third save.
