Donald Driver discusses Week 4 on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

The Times is pleased to have Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver guest-blogging for us while he competes on “Dancing With the Stars.” Each week, Driver, a Super Bowl champion and three-time Pro Bowl player, will answer a few questions from Sports Now editor Houston Mitchell and give some insight into the competition. Here are Driver’s thoughts about Week 3, which he offered via email.

Q: You seemed to be having a lot of fun dancing the paso doble. Was that the easiest dance for you to connect to so far?

Going into this week I thought it was going to be the easiest, but it might have actually been the hardest dance so far. Peta and I put in a lot of extra hours this week to get the little details right. Really happy our hard work paid off.

Q: You and Peta Murgatoryd seem to get along really well. What is the most surprising thing you have discovered about her in your time training together?

I think the reason we do get along so well is the same thing that was most surprising to me -- her drive to succeed. She wants to win that Mirror Ball trophy just as bad as I do and is willing to work just as hard to get it.

Q: How do your kids react to see you dancing every week?

They love it. They’ve always known their daddy to be a football player -- now they’re learning I can dance. They’ve started to develop their own routines and will practice them while Peta and I are rehearsing. They’re good! I have to stop our rehearsals sometimes so Peta and I can take notes!

Q: Do you feel any extra pressure after being atop the leaderboard for the first time?

Not at all. Whether we’re at the top or bottom, all we want to do is come out each and every week having improved from the week before. If we can do that we’ll be all right.

Q: Which of your Green Bay Packers teammates would do the best on the show, and which would do the worst?

I think we would all do well because we are very competitive. We don’t like looking bad.
