E.J. Woods will practice pending court case
UCLA defensive back E.J. Woods will be allowed to participate in spring practice pending his arraignment on misdemeanor assault charges, Coach Rick Neuheisel said.
Woods, a 19-year-old freshman, was charged with two counts of sexual battery and four counts of battery. He will be arraigned April 6. UCLA begins spring practice Thursday.
“E.J. has legal issues that need to be addressed, and we’re monitoring that situation,” Neuheisel said.
Neuheisel also said quarterback Chris Forcier has been given his release to explore a transfer. Forcier, who would be a sophomore next fall, played in seven games last season, completing three of 11 passes for 22 yards. Quarterback Nick Crissman, who is recovering from shoulder surgery, will be limited during spring practice.
Quarterback Richard Brehaut, a freshman, and offensive lineman Ryan Taylor, a community college transfer, enrolled in classes Monday and will be able to participate in spring practice.
Brehaut, from Rancho Cucamonga Los Osos High, will get an opportunity to compete for the starting spot. Taylor is in the mix at guard and center.
