NFL looking into shooting of Aqib Talib

The NFL was investigating Tuesday after Denver Broncos star cornerback Aqib Talib was shot in the leg in Dallas early Sunday, according to multiple media reports. The Broncos said Talib would make a full recovery.
The injury caused Talib to miss the reigning Super Bowl champions’ Monday trip to the White House to be honored by President Obama. KUSA-TV in Denver reported that he would miss the last two weeks of off-season practices as well, but should be healthy by the Broncos’ first preseason game on Aug. 11.
Dallas police released an initial incident report Tuesday morning and said their investigation was continuing.

According to WFAA-TV in Dallas, Talib told authorities that he had been shot at a park around 3:40 am, but police are investigating whether the incident was connected to the shooting of two others at a Dallas strip club about the same time. TMZ released video of the club shooting.
“I heard a single gunshot and fell to the ground,” Talib allegedly told investigators, WFAA reported. “Everything was a blur and I was too intoxicated to remember what happened.”
It was unclear whether the gunshot was self-inflicted. ESPN reported that if the gun was in the possession of an intoxicated Talib, the three-time Pro Bowler could be charged with several misdemeanors. If the gun was unlicensed, a felony charge would be possible.
Citing the police report, WFAA said that Talib arrived at Medical City Hospital Dallas in his white Rolls-Royce, where he was given stitches for the wound caused by a bullet that entered his right thigh and exited his right calf. He was released from the hospital Monday afternoon.
Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth tweeted Sunday that the team had been in touch with Talib following the incident and was “gathering more info.”
Talib has previously been charged with aggravated assault in two separate cases, first in March 2011 and again in April 2015, but the charges were dropped both times.
Tuesday was the first day of Denver’s three-day off-season minicamp. Talib helped the Broncos defense dominate Carolina in the Super Bowl.
