Rams quarterback Nick Foles, whose status became tenuous when the Rams traded to the top of the draft to select quarterback Jared Goff, was absent from the first organized team activities workout on Tuesday, a person with knowledge of the situation said Wednesday.

The person could not confirm an ESPN.com report that Foles had attended off-season workouts in Oxnard before the draft but has been absent since the Rams selected Goff.

The Rams began OTAs on Tuesday, the first of six voluntary full-team workouts they are scheduled to conduct during the next few weeks. The first practice was among two closed to media and without post-workout access to players or Coach Jeff Fisher.

Fisher is expected to address Foles’ situation after Wednesday afternoon’s workout, which is open to media.

In March 2015, the Rams acquired Foles from the Philadelphia Eagles in a trade for quarterback Sam Bradford.

The Rams signed him to a $24.5-million extension, and he opened the season as the starter. But Fisher benched Foles in favor of Case Keenum, who started the last five games.

The Rams have four quarterbacks on the roster: Goff, Keenum, Foles and second-year pro Sean Mannion.
