LaMarcus Aldridge delays surgery, scores 26 in Portland win

Portland’s LaMarcus Aldridge, who decided to put off thumb surgery and play Saturday night against Washington, led the charge in the Trail Blazers’ 103-96 comeback win at home, scoring 26 points while playing 36 minutes.

Aldridge had said Thursday that he needed surgery to repair a ligament in his left thumb and was expected to miss from six to eight weeks. But just hours before the game against the Wizards, the Blazers announced on Twitter that the three-time All-Star would play.

John Wall led the Wizards with 25 points.

at Charlotte 76, New York 71: Brian Roberts, who started in place of the injured Kemba Walker, scored 17 points for the Hornets, who got their ninth victory in the last 11 games. The Knicks played without Carmelo Anthony, who was held out to rest his knee.

at Milwaukee 101, Detroit 86: The Bucks went 11 for 17 from three-point range, including a four-for-five performance from O.J. Mayo, who had 20 points total. The Pistons’ Brandon Jennings left the game with a lower leg injury.

at Memphis 101, Philadelphia 83: Zach Randolph had 17 points and 14 rebounds and Jeff Green scored 18 as the Grizzlies won their sixth in the last seven games. Memphis led by as many as 25 in the second half.

at Utah 108, Brooklyn 73: Gordon Hayward scored 24 points and Trey Burke had 19 as the Jazz rolled. Jarrett Jack had 16 points for the Nets, who have dropped three of four.
