Watch Tony Hawk, Terrell Owens ride real-life (???) HUVr boards

Share

2015 is just around the corner, and you know what that means -- hoverboards!

Or, to use the official brand name, HUVr boards!

That’s right! Just like we were promised in the 1989 movie “Back to the Future Part II,” we will soon be able to zip around above the ground on skateboard-like contraptions.

Don’t believe me? Just check out the video above, featuring folks like Tony Hawk and Terrell Owens demonstrating the boards, which are introduced by Christopher Lloyd (a.k.a. Doc Brown from the “Back to the Future” movies -- can’t get more credible than that).

Or visit the HUVr Tech website, which allows us to design our own board and suggests boards will be available to the public in December. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is listed as a venture capitalist.

According to the site, it all started as a 2010 summer project at the MIT Physics Graduate Program. “Our team consists of materials science, electricity & magnetism experts who’ve solved an important part of one of science’s mysteries: the key to antigravity,” the site states.

But whatever you do, don’t visit one of the many sites that claim it’s all a hoax -- especially Mashable, which offers evidence that Funny or Die might be behind the whole thing.

That would just ruin the fun.
