U.S. Open matches delayed by rain

Share

NEW YORK -- The U.S. Open men’s semifinal between sixth-seeded Tomas Berdych and third-seeded Andy Murray that was supposed to begin at 8 a.m. Pacific time has been delayed by rain and Saturday’s forecast is not looking positive for tennis for at least another hour.

There is flooding in the area and the best hope for the USTA is that the Murray-Berdych match and the next men’s semifinal between second-seeded and defending champion Novak Djokovic and fourth-seeded David Ferrerr can get played.

The women’s final between top-seeded Victoria Azarenka and fourth-seeded Serena Williams is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Arthur Ashe Stadium, but the priority is to finish the men’s semifinals to avoid a fifth straight unscheduled Monday final.
