USC football: Tailback Justin Davis making run for playing time

Share

Tailback Justin Davis made a big impression in spring practice after graduating from high school in December and enrolling at USC.

After nearly a week of training camp, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound Davis remains on track to possibly play a significant role as a freshman.

Davis, who performed well in Coliseum scrimmages last spring, rushed for 32 yards and a touchdown in six carries in a scrimmage at the stadium Thursday.

“Justin continued what he’s done ... every time we’ve come in here,” Coach Lane Kiffin said.

Davis won’t play a game in the Coliseum until Sept. 7, when the Trojans play Washington State in their home opener.

The Trojans are set to open the season Aug. 29 at Hawaii.
