Watch Bryce Harper run face-first into wall against Dodgers

Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals really left an impression during the Nationals’ 6-2 victory over the Dodgers on Monday. Unfortunately, the impression he left was on the outfield fence. Harper was chasing a drive by A.J. Ellis when he ran face first into the fence.

As The Times’ Kevin Baxter wrote:

“But this win almost proved costly for Washington, which saw Bryce Harper leave the game in the fifth after running into the scoreboard embedded in the right-field fence while chasing an A.J. Ellis drive that went for a triple. Harper, who was checked out at a hospital, needed 11 stitches to close a gash on his neck and had a jammed left shoulder.”

And the incident was the talk of the Nationals clubhouse afterward.

“The way he ran into the wall, he definitely had no idea where he was in relation to it,” Denard Span of the Nationals said. “As soon as he ran into it his body locked up. I’ve never seen anybody run into the wall like that.

“I just was like ‘Is he going to stop?’ And he just kept going.”
